The Studio Is the Point

Ask a painter and a programmer what they need and you'll get different lists. A big flat surface and north light. A second monitor and a door that closes. But underneath, it's the same need: a space that says work happens here.

That's the part most stays get wrong. The photos show a beautiful bed and a view, and then you arrive and there's nowhere to actually do the thing. You end up hunched over a kitchen table for a month.

The rooms at AIR are built the other way around. Standing desks that face the green. External monitors for the people doing final edits. A separate art studio for the work that needs space and mess. Fast internet that holds, because a dropped call mid-pitch is its own kind of failure.

The view matters too, but not the way you'd think. It's not there to be looked at all day. It's there for the moment you look up from the hard part and the eye rests on something alive, and then goes back down. That small reset, a hundred times a day, is most of what a good studio does.

Make the space right and the work follows. That's the whole bet.
